£5,000 COMMISSION FOR SHORT FILM UP FOR GRABS

Have you got a great idea for a short film that uses the Cornish language? There might just be £5,000 in it for you.
The deadline for proposals for the Cornwall Film Festival’s 2011 Govyn Kernewek award is 31 January.
The annual Govyn Kernewek award is a competitive commission of £5,000 to make a short film (20 minutes) using Kernewek. The award is supported by the Cornwall Film Festival, MAGA Cornish Language Partnership, and Awen Productions CIC.
The film must use the Cornish language wholly or substantially in an interesting way and must be completed in time for screening at the 10th Cornwall Film Festival, which will be held 4—6 November 2011.
The 2010 Govyn Kernewek winner, Skynt An Ilowek (Skint: A Musical), written and directed by Ian Bucknole, was the first-ever Cornish-language musical and one of the most popular and well-received events at last year’s Festival.
The suggested theme for this year’s award is: "Dowr Tamar yw, nyns yw an Amazon a-barth Duw!" (“It's the Tamar, not the Amazon, for heaven's sake!")
